InterpretationIntimate and Love become warm, close colours instead of my sketch's cold slate and amber: a deep plum coat that reads as worn wool by lamplight, an ochre woven sash, and a rose-gold flame whose colour the beacon and the far towers will take up, so the whole cliff ends in the colour of something held close.

Translates: Atmospheric · melancholic

InterpretationAtmospheric and melancholic become a dusk with almost no hard contrast: a near-black plum zenith sinking to a dusty mauve horizon, lavender cloud sea, basalt with a violet cast and olive moss, with fog over the road; the flame is the only saturated warm thing.

InterpretationMajestic becomes an upright carriage with almost no lean and a level head; Visually Austere becomes small, economical movement: low bob, low bounce, a short arm swing on the free arm, and a slow pivot turn instead of a flip.

The operatic offering: breath, rise, long hold, bow

InterpretationOperatic becomes one large, slow gesture held long: Ilo bows the lamp to their lips and breathes on it, then raises both arms high and rises on their toes, the flame leaving at the top of the arc; the pose holds before sinking into a small bow to the beacon. Reflective sets the long still holds.

InterpretationSoft-Spoken and Thoughtful become short, plain sentences with no exclamation; Community-Oriented turns my sketch's solitary notebook lines outward, toward the keeper and the people on the far towers, so the kindling reads as something shared.

Then I will walk the rest of it for them. You have kept this road alone long enough.

The cup-lamp carried at the chest

Translates: Intimate · Resourceful

InterpretationIntimate becomes the one big structural move: the lamp is a small handled cup of glass held in the front hand at chest height through a carry pose, so the light falls on Ilo's own face and coat, not on the road ahead. Resourceful becomes a plain, mended, practical object.

InterpretationCharacter-driven and Mature replace my sketch's pale mask with an adult human profile: a heavy-lidded eye, a brow, a straight nose, a closed half-smile and a cheek warmed by the lamp below it, simple strokes in the way the film's minimal faces carry a whole inner life.

InterpretationFluid Silhouettes becomes a long line drawn in the character file: a felt cap whose tip bends back like a snuffed wick, down a flared knee-length coat to the sash tails trailing in the wind; Folkloric and Quality Craftsmanship become a striped woven sash in the road's own prayer-flag colours, a stitched patch on the coat and a bundle of spare tapers across the back that breaks the outline.
